Dispatches from a restless Floridian ... food, travel, books, rum, peninsular insanity.

Aw, hell...
Yes, I concede that protecting airplanes from terrorists is perhaps a tiny bit more important than my freedom to smuggle rum from all over the world.
Still, these new rules are gonna put a serious crimp in the further expansion of my rum collection (above). All those bottles traveled in my carry-on luggage. I've tried sticking bottles in my checked luggage. And I've thrown out lots of clothes as a result.
Maybe if those goddam "Islamic fascists" had a daily dose of fortified cane juice, they'd mellow out a bit...

That's quite a 'spiritual' shrine you have there Bob. Now you collect rum for its medicinal virtues right?
Any time you need help with the rumba let us know!
Maybe a hoodoo doll in the middle of that shrine would help scare up a few more bottles.
bubble wrap and double plastic bag 'em. A friend o' mine rolls socks over the plastic baggies. Some of those suitcases that never go on sale even have really cool compartments for shipping breakable stuff. And, of course, when I visit my sister in Boca, I always ship everything back (they've got lots of folks there who ship porcelain and other fragile stuff all the time).
